The Brief
We partnered with the fabulous St Martins in The Fields, who have a truly iconic venue right in the heart of London’s theatre district. Their event spaces are extremely unique and provide phenomenal backdrops for a whole host of events.
So, we and the fabulous SMITF team, put our heads together to see how we could work in tandem to alert more event teams in the corporate world to us, and let them know about what we both have to offer and how we could help them bring their events to life. We love their spaces, and they love our prop, sets and entertainment packages, which we combined at the Showcase to bring our guests a glamorous, themed cocktail party.
What We Did
In consultation with the SMITF event team we created a comprehensive floorplan outlining the themed areas to create for an exciting guest experience and to complement the creative culinary treats that were going to be on offer throughout the night. When all areas were agreed, the real work began in bringing to life Alice in Wonderland, Venice by Night, Alpine Lodge, and the Ice Castle. The Boo Set Build Workshop was awash with the sounds of prop making and our talented team set about making some new props and as we are committed to recycling and upcycling, we also revived some old props.
Alongside this hive of activity below decks in our set build space, upstairs our Creative Director and C.E.O came up with an entertainment and performance plan and set about casting and staffing the various character actor and event host roles. It is a very important part of any event to procure the right blend of performers, who are confident and eager to improvise alongside guests at a level each individual attendee is happy with.
SMITF were taking care of the themed food and beverage to tie in with each of the various areas and they did not disappoint, wowing us with an ingenious menu that ensured guests had a memorable multi-sensory experience.
On the day of the event, with our guestlists combined, we were ready to rock and roll and make some magical memories. The event opened and we snapped our esteemed guests in front of the step and repeat before entering the beautifully lit and themed event space. The entertainment offer included games with prizes, a cabaret show, and Instagram-able photo opportunities galore. Old friends were hugged, new friends made, the buzz never abated, and everyone stayed the entire duration, a clear sign of a good night had.
Highlights
We cemented a wonderful relationship with a phenomenal event space partner, who we look forward to working with extensively in the future.
Our design team had a favourite area, they just loved creating a perennial Wonderland Garden with its box hedge seating, giant mushrooms and quirky giant playing cards.
We relished the opportunity to demonstrate that hosts and actors add a true immersive element to any event. We see it time again the joy of interacting with larger-than-life characters at events.
A huge plus was reconnecting with clients who had to pair back during the pandemic, and strengthen those existing connections, as the events industry is finally coming back to its former in-person glory.
